Boss 302 Block Hp Rating

The only broken boss block i ever saw.
Boss 302 block hp rating. The real answer is north of 550 hp. As you can see its not bad but the widest point of the piston is outside of the cylinder. The gauge point on a mahle piston is 500 from the bottom of the piston skirt this is the widest point of the piston. The trans am boss 302 engines used the oe block and they were at least 460 hp.
Boss 302 block m 6010 boss. Run on the dyno with the hooker headers holley carb and msd distributor the amazing little boss 302 pumped out 374 hp at 6 700 rpm and 324 lb ft of torque at 4 300 rpm. This block accepts all oe components hyd roller lifter etc. The new boss 302 engine was unveiled in the 2006 sema show.
Bigger the boss 302 block is capable of supporting 363 cubic inches with a bore and stroke job 4 125 inch bore 3 400 inch crank. As stated in the ford racing comments the boss block is ready to install with the exception of the final bore and hone. First picture is a boss 302 block with a 3 400 crank and mahle piston. Some myths still persist though one being that the 1969 1970 ford mustang boss 302 which had a 290 hp gross rating really had around 400 hp vintage road tests show mid to high 14 second ets at 94 97 mph for a car weighing about 3500 pounds with a driver and test gear.
I believe the boss 302 is rated to 1500hp if we re talking about the same one. There is a guy around here w a step side f150 w a 347 stroker and vortech putting over 500 to the wheels with a boss block. There was a guy in san diego scott sloat who ran a tiger with a boss 302 and twin turbos in the late 80 s. The boss 302 block is a great choice for reliable horsepower.
I ll look for it but i had a pdf file which showed all of the specs for the different ford blocks. He wasn t able to break the block and he definitely tried more than a few times.
